Why Should You Take This IICRC-approved Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) course?

This IICRC-approved Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) course is designed to teach restoration personnel that perform remediation work to give them a better concept of water damage, its effects and techniques for drying of structures. This course will give residential and commercial maintenance personnel the background to understand the procedures necessary to deal with water losses, sewer backflows, and contamination such as mold.

When coupled with additional on-the-job training and field experience, students should be adequately prepared to perform and document typical residential or light commercial water-damage restoration projects from start to finish. They also should be adequately prepared to accomplish further training in other IICRC-approved courses such as ASD (Applied Structural Drying), and AMRT (Applied Microbial Remediation Technician), which require WRT (Water Damage Restoration Technician) as a prerequisite.

Topics to be Covered Include:

  • General Discussion covers Principles of Drying, Categories and Classes.
  • Equipment, Supplies, Chemicals
  • Microorganisms, Health and Safety
  • Drying Science
  • Effect of Water on Materials
  • Inspections
  • Procedures: Sanitary Water Source
  • Procedures: Unsanitary Water

Intended Audience:  Restoration & remediation companies, contractors, universities, large organizations, facility managers, water damage technicians, carpet cleaning companies, BOMA members, home & building inspectors, and anyone that deals with water damage.

IICRC Exam Fees:  $80.00 for each exam. Retests are $80.00 per exam. These fees are in addition to the registration fee and are paid directly to the IICRC online prior to course start date. Please use this link to register for the exam: https://iicrc.org/livestreamexamregistration

The WRT Certification Exam is comprised of 110 questions, multiple choice.

Continuing Education:  The IICRC continuing education program seeks to encourage registrants to actively participate in their industry through conventions, workshops and specialized training with continuing education and by sharing knowledge with others in the industry. IICRC-certified cleaning and restoration technicians face many changes in their field and require 14.0 CE credit hours every four years.

Please Note:  Failure to meet continuing education credit requirements will result in suspension of that particular status until the requirement is met and all current course requirements are met.

I loved how the instructor didn't just read out of a book or power point. He made it fun by telling stories and making jokes. I feel like more people should take this training course. I also feel more confident when going to a water loss.

My biggest issue I have is with the test. How things were worded in the test was very difficult. We had a lot of new people that are starting in this industry and I feel like they should make the test a open book test. We work in a field that I know time is a factor but once we get there and assess the situation (Safety and Category) and get extraction going is number one.... If there is any questions we always have the information at our fingertips to figure out. Rudy did do a great job and I did learn a lot but I also feel the test made me feel like I can't do this job and it scared me away. I am a marketer for our company and I took this class so I can help out our Technicians when we get crazy busy. I am not a very good test taker and I know a lot of people are in the same boat. I feel we will get a lot more people interested in doing this sort certification if they would make it a open book. I took so many notes and I will put my book right in my bag to make sure I have the information with me at all times.
