I had the opportunity to attend the IICRC Fire and Smoke Restoration Technician (FSRT) class taught by Gary—and I have to say, it exceeded my expectations in every way.
From the start, Gary created an atmosphere that was both engaging and down-to-earth. His teaching style is easy to follow, even when the material could’ve easily felt dry or overly technical. He brought a ton of real-world experience into the classroom, which helped connect the textbook concepts to what actually happens out in the field.
What really stood out was how approachable and open Gary was. He encouraged questions, shared stories from past projects, and made sure everyone in the class—whether new to fire restoration or seasoned—was keeping up and getting value. You could tell he genuinely cares about raising the bar in our industry, and it made the whole class more impactful.
The class content was thorough but not overwhelming. I am new to this line of work so my eyes were wide open, or I should say "ears wide open." I thought Mike was a great instructor providing an overall education with details and specifics throughout. I enjoyed listening to his professional experiences as he used them to solidify the points he was making. I look forward to attending more of the classes he offers. Michael is an entertaining educator. I enjoyed his course & the wealth of knowledge he carries; however, his teaching style seemed to be more suitable for individuals of whom have previous experience in the fire restoration field. As someone who doesn’t have fire restoration experience, I would’ve appreciated a teaching style that could’ve been more effective for a first timer. Still, a good experience nevertheless. Thank you. I recently took an online course taught by Gary, and I couldn't be more impressed. Despite being an older gentleman, his deep expertise was evident.
