This CA Department of Public Health (CDPH) Lead Sampling Technician Initial course provides technicians with the basic information they need to perform their work under supervision of a certified Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor in California. 

This program includes a background on health risks of lead; how to conduct a visual assessment and visual examination; how to collect dust wipe, paint chip, and soil samples plus an overview of how to use an XRF analyzer. Sampling Technicians must also attend an additional 8-hour manufacturer's training before using an XRF. There is a final exam at the end of class required to pass the class, however there is no CDPH State Exam for this discipline.

NOTE: Sampling Technicians are required to work under the supervision of a certified lead Inspector/Risk Assessor.

Prerequisites:  No work experience or education is required. There is no 3rd party exam required after class.

 

Please Note:  This training course concludes with the technician course certification exam. Students who successfully complete this class may apply for California Lead-in-Construction Sampling Technician certification. Sampling Technicians are required to work under the supervision of a certified Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor.

Company Application Requirements$300 every 5 years
Refresher TrainingYou must complete at least 7 hours of CDPH-approved lead-related construction Continuing Education every two years, and pay the application fee annually.

Your state may accept training for certification programs from those training providers accredited by EPA or other state authorized programs.
