COURSE DESCRIPTION

This CESCL: Erosion and Sediment Control Lead Re-Certification Online course recertifies CESCL professionals approaching expiration. This course reviews industry-standard techniques used in sediment and construction site control.

Geared toward self-paced learning, this 8-hour course is offered fully online. Upon successful completion, students will received a renewed Certified Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) card. This certification will be valid for three years.

This online refresher course is geared toward actively certified CESCL professionals who need to renew their expiring certification. For candidates interested in the the initial training, view the initial CESCL Training Courses.

CESCL certification and re-certification is required in the state of Washington by the Washington State Department of Ecology for all individuals responsible for construction, stormwater inspections and sampling at construction sites. 


This 2-part Online Course Covers:

  • The 12 elements of a DOE compliant Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) as outlined in stormwater management manual, and;
  • The newly proposed 13th SWPPP element, Low Impact Development (or LID).

Note: This course is for current CESCL certification holders who are about to expire, or who have expired within the last six (6) months. All other candidates must take the initial CESCL Training Course.

This CESCL: Erosion and Sediment Control Lead Re-Certification course is recognized as meeting the training and certification requirements of the General Permit, and BMP C160 Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) in Washington State Department of Ecology’s stormwater management manuals for Eastern and Western Washington. The Construction Stormwater General Permit requires that site inspections be conducted by a CESCL.
