The 6-Hour MA CSL Renewal Option 1 - LeadSMART course reviews essential information necessary for renewal of the Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License (MA CSL). Students will receive in-depth instruction on building code, business practices and residential energy code as it applies to the State of Massachusetts.

Through live instruction, this course presents important business and worksite practices so that contractors are in accordance with state laws. Upon successful completion, students will earn 6 CEUs towards their MA CSL.

This class can be paired with the 6-hour Online CSL CEU class to get all 12 of your required hours.

Alert! New CSL Renewal Requirements In Effect as of Jan. 1, 2018:

Unrestricted License holders can now only complete up to 6 hours online maximum. Remaining 6 hours (or all 12 hours) must be completed in person. Additionally the hours per topic required has changed to the following:

• Code Review - 4 hours; Code review courses shall include specific concentration to requirements of the license category. For instance, One- and Two-Family license courses shall focus, but not be limited to, residential code requirements.
• Workplace Safety - 1 hour
• Business Practices / Workers’ Compensation - 1 hour
• Energy (except Demolition Specialty License) - 1 hour
• Lead Safe Practices (only first renewal cycle) - 1 hour. The remainder credit hours to be completed by approved electives.

Please ensure the the course topics in this course align with any previous education you have completed to meet all necessary topic hours.

This course is designed for students who already hold an MA CSL license. Licensees who renew a license or are issued a first-time license on or after July 1, 2011 must comply with education requirements following a full two-year cycle. A qualifying Construction Supervisor licensee must provide proof of completion of required hours in the appropriate category in which the licensee is licensed (Restricted, Unrestricted or Specialty). Unrestricted Licensees need 12 hours every two (2) years. Restricted Licensees need 10 hours every two (2) years; Specialty Contractors (Masonry, Roofing, Windows/Siding, Demolition, Insulation) need 6 hours every two (2) years.

If your contractor's license has lapsed, or will lapse before completing a renewal course, you have a 1-year grace period to fulfill the continuing education requirement and renew. If it has been expired for more than 1 year, but less than 2, you can pay an additional $100 fee and still process the renewal. After 2 years, you must retake the exam.
