COURSE DESCRIPTION

Why Should You Take This IICRC Rug Cleaning Technician (RCT) course?

The Rug Cleaning Technician course covers area rug identification and appropriate cleaning techniques and methods to professional cleaning, restoration and inspection service providers as well as others in related industries. Emphasis will be placed on teaching cleaning theory, practical application, hands-on techniques, and understanding cleaning limitations. 

Topics Include:

  • Construction of oriental rugs - learn about how rugs are made
  • Identification of rugs - you will learn the basics of rug types to help in the cleaning process
  • Pre-cleaning inspection - the most important step is what happens before cleaning begins
  • How to set up a mini plant - learn how to turn a limited space into a rug plant and do hands-on clothing
  • Fringe cleaning and dye bleed correction - you will see how to correct the two most time consuming problems rug cleaners deal with

Prerequisites:  IICRC Certification in Carpet Cleaning Technician (CCT)orCommercial Carpet Maintenance Technician (CCMT), and Upholstery and Fabric Cleaning Technician (UFT)

Continuing Education:  The IICRC continuing education program seeks to encourage registrants to actively participate in their industry through conventions, workshops and specialized training with continuing education and by sharing knowledge with others in the industry.

INSPECTORS:  Due to rapid changes in fiber, yarn, dye, manufacturing, finishing and related technologies, IICRC-certified inspectors must attain 14.0 CE credit hours every two years.

CLEANING/RESTORATION TECHNICIANS:  IICRC-certified cleaning and restoration technicians face many changes in their field and require 14.0 CE credit hours every four years.

ADVANCED DESIGNATIONS:  Those registrants achieving the advanced designations of Master Textile Cleaner (MTC), Master Fire and Smoke Restorer (MSR) or Master Water Restorer (MWR) will be required to attain 14.0 CE credit hours every two years.

Please Note:  Failure to meet continuing education credit requirements will result in suspension of that particular status until the requirement is met and all current course requirements are met.
