COURSE DESCRIPTION

This IICRC Odor Control Technician (OCT) course covers olfaction and odor, odor sources, detection process, theory of odor control, equipment, chemical options and applications. The student will learn how to address odors caused from biological sources such as decomposition, urine contamination, and mold, combustion sources such as fire and smoke damage, and chemical sources such as fuel oil spills or volatile organic chemicals.

  • Odor sources, detection process, and theory of odor control
  • Chemical options and applications
  • Sanitize, disinfect, enzyme, and sealants
  • Vapor diffusion technology
  • Antimocrobials, 'pairing agents', and deodorizers and how to use them

  • Decomposition
  • Urine Contamination
  • Mold

 

Combustion Sources:

  • Fuel Oil Spills
  • Volatile Organic Chemicals

 

Chemical Sources:

  • Efficient Wand Strokes
  • Labor Saving Tricks

Continuing Education:  The IICRC continuing education program seeks to encourage registrants to actively participate in their industry through conventions, workshops and specialized training with continuing education and by sharing knowledge with others in the industry. IICRC-certified cleaning and restoration technicians face many changes in their field and require 14.0 CE credit hours every four years.

Please Note:  Failure to meet continuing education credit requirements will result in suspension of that particular status until the requirement is met and all current course requirements are met.
