This 2-Hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness (SST-302) course is a safety training course required by NYC Local Law 196 and is a prerequisite for some construction and demolition workers as well as supervisors in order to obtain a Site Safety Training (SST) card.
This course trains participants on the dangers of drug and alcohol use in the work place. Students will learn to recognize adverse effects associated with substance abuse in order to protect themselves and others on the job site.
Construction is one of the most dangerous industries in the United States. With high-powered machinery, risky heights, and toxic chemicals present on nearly every construction site, it's important for workers to be alert and cognizant whenever they're on the job. However, statistics have shown that many workplace accidents can be attributed to drug and alcohol use. These substances can impair a construction professional's ability to his or her job safely. It's important for construction professionals to be aware of the dangers of substance use to protect themselves from workplace accidents.
