There are 5 steps to become an EPA Lead Dust Sampling Technician:
- Get registered for an EPA-approved lead Dust sampling technician course
- Submit a Firm application to the EPA on behalf of your company
- Complete the training in a public or private workshop
- Pass the 25-question certification exam given in class
- Receive your Firm Certificate from the EPA and you're in the clear!
EPA Lead-Safe Firm Certification
Before or after class, register your company with the EPA to get the Lead-Safe Firm Certificate. This is an online application through the EPA website, and is required for all businesses offering DST services, including sole proprietors. Knowledgeable instructor, kind staff, snack and coffee available, interesting historical video, organized binder provided which contained the slideshow content which was helpful for following along and reviewing key information, plus opportunities for classmates to ask questions and make comments - all made for a rounded experience. All in all it was a very good experience. The instructor was knowledgeable and was able to answer questions from the group. He kept the training flowing and did not fall behind. The practical portion of the training was very well demonstrated and easy to follow. The addition of short videos aided to the material.
