Why Should You Take This Louisiana 6-Hour Continuing Education Construction Safety Standards Online Anytime course?

The Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors (LSLBC) requires residential contractors to complete six (6) hours per year by your original licensing date to renew your Louisiana Contractor License.  This increased in January, 2012 from four hours to six hours each year.

 

What happens if I don't renew my license by my renewal date?

A delinquent penalty of $50 for late renewal of Residential contractor licenses may be assessed 15 days following the expiration date. Failure to renew your license within six months after your renewal date will result in forfeiture of your renewal rights and you will have to start all over. If you have specific questions about your renewal period, please contact the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors (LSLBC) at:  (225) 765-2301

YES! This Louisiana 6-Hour Continuing Education Construction Safety Standards Online Anytime course is a review of the safety codes required for residential construction. It provides a clear understanding of construction safety in Record keeping, Personal Protective Equipment, Falls, Stairways and Ladders, Scaffolds, and Electrical Safety. Students will be able to understand and describe the basic components of construction safety. They will recognize the hazards inherent at a construction job site, and describe ways to prevent those hazards. Finally they will learn the responsibilities of both the employer and the employee in observing established safety practices.

 

How many hours of continuing education do I need to complete?

You are required to complete six hours per year by your original licensing date to renew your Louisiana Contractor License. This increased in January, 2012 from four hours to six hours each year.

workers.

Chapter 3 - Falls in Construction
*Learning Objectives: 1) Describe methods of fall protection available to workers.
2) Explain the main criteria that prompts the use of fall protection for construction
workers.

Chapter 4 - Stairways and Ladders
*Learning Objectives: 1) Describe safety guidelines and requirements for stairways
used at a construction site. 2) List safe practices and requirements for ladders used at a
construction site.

Chapter 5 - Scaffolds
*Learning Objectives: 1) Recognize the hazards associated with different types of
scaffolds. 2) Understand the procedures that must be followed in order to control and
minimize those hazards.

Chapter 6 - Excavations

Describe the three primary methods for protecting employees form cave-ins. 3) Name
factors that pose a hazard to employees working in excavations, and how to reduce
those hazards. 4) Describe the role of a competent person at an excavation site.

*Learning Objectives: 1) Describe OSHA requirements for proper fire prevention,
egress, and equipment. 2) Be able to create a working emergency action and fire
prevention plan.

Chapter 8 - Tool Safety
*Learning Objectives: 1) Describe the hazards surrounding the use of hand and
power tools. 2) List the important safety tips associated with Powder-Actuated Tools. 3)
Explain the basic procedures for safe jack handling.

Chapter 9 - Materials Handling
*Learning Objective: 1) Identify, avoid, and control hazardous materials through
proper handling, storage, use and disposal.
