David Turnage, founder and primary instructor of Turnage & Associates, has extensive hands-on experience in the swimming pool and water chemistry industry. Through positions from Operations Management to Chief Operations Officer, he has been directly involved in the day-to-day workings of various pool services, pool construction, pump room repairs, waste treatment, and water chemistry. He earned his first CPO certification in 2002 and then went on to become an instructor for the NSPF in 2003 to share his extensive industry knowledge with others. Turnage & Associate courses incorporate interactive media along with a bit of wit and humor to help students understand and internalize pool industry concepts. David is passionate about pool management education, and ensures students leave class with a thorough understanding of the sometimes-complex math, theories and realities that are associated with the swimming pool industry. As a member of various chamber, apartment, other pool related associations, and sitting on the committee for the model aquatic health code, David is at the cutting edge of industry trends and regulations. I recently completed a CPO class with David, and it was a great experience. He explained the material in a clear and practical way that made it easy to understand and apply. Our instructor was very friendly and informative. David kept the class light and entertaining. You could tell he knew the information like the back of his hand but shared it in ways that were easy for beginners to understand. The communication he shared leading up to the class far above and beyond anything I have experienced and was so appreciative. The amount of his time that he puts into, and after the class is so generous. With David's instruction, not only did I pass the CPO test with flying colors, I now have a contact in the industry that I know I can call for support. I had a very good experience with David Turnage. I received what was probably my best test score ever. I do believe that David's teaching style and advanced knowledge of the information was a big part of it. While I was very nervous of the online platform David very quickly removed a lot of my anxieties with the pre class communication. The trainer has the rare perspective of an experienced expert witness in court cases involving public pools and hot tubs. Combine that knowledge with the abilities required to safely operate and maintain public pools as a CPO, sprinkle in some levity and marinate with genuine enthusiasm and you not only learn the material, you want to use what you learn.
