The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 95 (IUOE Local 95) is part of the Taft-Hartley Trust Fund that was founded by Bill Cagney in 1996. We are a progressive, diversified trade union that represents stationary engineers who work in operations and maintenance in building and industrial complexes and in the service industries. We also represent a significant number of public employees engaged in a wide variety of occupations, as well as a number of job classifications in the petrochemical industry. As a passionate training provider, we have conducted over 20,000 hours of training to over 2,200 students per year. IUOE Local 95 currently instructs the Lead Renovator courses under the EPA Accreditation of EnviroEd, LLC.

Although the instructor seemed generally knowledgeable about the subject, the instruction techniques left something to be desired. The instructor began the class 30 minutes late presumably to allow others to show up, and then spent the next 15 minutes passing out the course materials. There were numerous unnecessary breaks, stoppages in the class to procure missing materials, and a general waste of everyone's time. I felt like i got about 3 maybe 4 hours of instruction in the "8 hour" class.
The instructor did not cover all the required topic areas, which was probably just as well. The presentation consisted primarily of reading the powerpoint slides, and selections from the book. Not a very dynamic presentation.
Better to have had a practitioner do the presentation. Someone who is actually doing this stuff in the field.
The hands on activities were a bit more valuable, but again, the instructor was not as well prepared for the tasks at hand as would have been nice.
The icing on the cake was during the 'exam' when the instructor graded the tests out loud while others were working. The instructor also made everyone stay until everyone was finished with no reason given, and did not review the test questions. People had no idea what they got wrong. That won't translate well to the field.
In summary The instructor was nice but not thoroughly prepared, somewhat knowlegable but wasted time, and delivered a very flat presentation.
I learned important information, but I felt like I could have gotten a much better class with another instructor.

The course was very thorough and in depth. The instructor used all course material in a way that everyone could understand and relate to according to ones trade. The instructor made the course very interesting and kept everyone's attention throughout the day.

The instructor was knowledgeable. He was able to discuss the key points and important information need to fully understand the extent of the regulation. I liked the hands on experience. I would have like to see a bit more upbeat attitude to keep the class interesting apart from the hands on parts of the course. Tyler G.

It was good, but some students in the class attempted to cheat. I feel as though they talked the entire time and should have been split up. It is a shame that they are considered legal adults because they acted like children the entire time. I wish the instructor would have been a little more stern in telling them to shut up. Other than that I got out of it what I planned which was to learn about lead paint. Charles S.

Material presented very well, all material explained very well, very happy with that. Do to maybe abnormal situation four students including myself were held back because we where told did not pass test but after further examination our test results showed we had passed. Instructor may need to find a better way to examine test scores.
