The OSHA 3-Hour Silica Worker course equips employees with essential knowledge about the health hazards of respirable crystalline silica exposure above the Action Level. Participants will learn safe procedures for working with stationary masonry saws, handheld power saws, handheld grinders for mortar removal (tuckpointing), heavy equipment, and utility vehicles for grading and excavating, along with 15 additional tasks. If you work with concrete, concrete blocks, drywall, sandblasting, tuckpointing, glass, jackhammering, rock crushing or operate heavy equipment, this course will help you develop a written exposure control plan and ensure a properly trained competent person is in place to implement it.

The course also covers the specific measures employers use to protect workers from silica exposure, including engineering controls, safe work practices, and the appropriate use of respirators. You will learn about the role and identity of the Competent Person designated by your employer (per OSHA 1926.1153(g)(4)), as well as the purpose and structure of the required medical surveillance program (per OSHA 1926.1153(h)). By the end of the course, you will have a clear understanding of OSHA's silica standards for construction and general industry.
