This 4-Hour Flagger Certification Training course is essential for anybody seeking to become a Certified Flagger in New York. The training covers both New York State-specific requirements and Federal MUTCD flagging procedures and regulations. This course covers issues such as traffic safety, construction site safety, and the appropriate use of flagmen through knowledge of flagging protocols and appropriate usage of necessary equipment. In accordance with the New York DOT Standard Specifications (619.3L.1), all flaggers must be adequately trained in flagging operations through accredited training programs before flagging operations begin. 

A Work Zone Flagger Certification is required by law if you want to work as a flagger in New York City or New York State. In order to continue working as a flagger, you must retake the course after the three-year validity period. Flaggers are responsible to protect employees, cars, and the general public in activity zone traffic control areas from risks brought on by lane closures, diversions, or activities close to traffic that could induce drivers to veer off course and cause accidents. The federal Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) must be adhered to by every state at a minimum. In order to meet local demands, several states, including New York, add their own supplements to the MUTCD. However, some states have their own manuals, and this training is not accepted in CA, CO, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, MA, MN, MS, MT, ND, NE, NV, OR, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, and WA.
