This fast-paced course is the first step for a novice to prepare for a career in an allied healthcare occupation. Our Medical Terminology course provides a comprehensive study of medical language in the context of human anatomy and physiology. Students learn to describe the function of each system of the body and apply the proper medical terminology to pathological conditions. This course is essential for the novice to establish the practical foundation for a successful career in healthcare. This course is a prerequisite to taking advanced courses in medical billing. Clock Hours:  40

 

MC 201-2:  Medical Coding I and II

These back-to-back courses focus on resources used by Medical Coders on the job, including the Department of Health's ICD-9 and the American Medical Association's CPT code sets. Our coding experts take you through all steps ncessary to code a claim correctly and link the correct codes for reimbursement for insurance carriers and government agencies. Students learn in-depth, step-by-step explanations of essential coding concepts followed by real-world practice exercises to reinforce their understanding. In addition to coverage of reimbursement, ICD-9-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and inpatient coding, this course offers complete coverage of the ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding system in preparation for the eventual transition. Clock Hours:  80
