Why Should You Take This Hazardous Materials Awareness Course?

Hazardous Materials Awareness training helps supervisors teach their workers how to quickly identify the hazardous materials in their workplace, so they can reduce injuries and accidents.This one day course will provide an introduction to hazardous materials for personnel who are not directly involved in hazardous materials site activities.

Intended Audience:  Anyone with interest in becoming an Emergency Response Technician, an On-Site Incident Commander, or a HAZWOPER Worker or Supervisor, should take this introductory awareness course.

Education or Experience Requirments:  There are no prerequisites to attend this course.

Topics To Be Covered Include: 

• Describe the supervisor's responsibility to maintain a safe work environment and to make sure appropriate safety measures are being taken in regards to hazardous materials.
• Describe safety training rules and how they are to be enforced in the workplace or on a hazardous waste site. 
• List the supervisor's responsibilities in workplace inspections.
• Describe proper inspection of equipment and chemicals within the workplace.
• Describe the proper steps to addressing hazardous materials found in the workplace.
