COURSE DESCRIPTION

Why Should You Take This 12-Hour Wisconsin Safety for Dwelling Contractors Continuing Education Online Anytime Course?

This 12-Hour Wisconsin Safety for Dwelling Contractors Continuing Education Online Anytime package includes 2 online HD-video courses equal to 12 credit hours of approved continued education: 6-Hour WI Video Construction Safety and 6-Hour WI Video Lead Paint Safety (see individual course descriptions below).  Students will have six months of access to course content.

Do I need to take Continued Education to keep my certification?

YES. You are required to complete 12 hours of approved education every two years to keep your certification. You do not have to take all 12 hours in one course. Wisconsin sends out a renewal notice 4-6 weeks before your renewal date (which is 3 months prior to your expiration date.)

Wisconsin Dwelling Contractors (Business License) must hold or employ someone who holds a Dwelling Contractor Qualifier Certification in order to obtain one or two-family dwelling building permits. In order to obtain this certification, you must complete a 12-hour initial qualifier course that has been approved by the Wisconsin Safety and Buildings Division.  Also, after you obtain the Certification, you must complete an approved 12-hour Continued Education Course during each two-year period in order to remain certified.

Topics Include:

Construction Safety:

This six hour course is a review of the safety codes required for residential construction.
Students will be able to understand and describe the basic components of a
construction safety program. They will recognize the hazards inherent at a construction
jobsite, and describe ways to prevent those hazards. Finally you will learn the
responsibilities of both the employer and the employee in observing established safety
practices.

This course is available online in full HD-video format. Students log in, watch each
video, then take a 5-10 question quiz at the end of each lesson. Students must get a
passing score of at least 70% in order to move from lesson to lesson and to receive
credit for the course.

Lead Paint Safety:

This online continuing education course in HD-video will review renovation, repair, and painting for contractors. It will also demonstrate how to work safely in housing with lead-based paint.

PLEASE NOTE: This course is for Continuing Education Credits ONLY.  If you need EPA Lead Paint (RRP) certification you must attend an EPA approved renovator course to receive your EPA Lead Paint (RRP) certification.
