Corporate Training By Zack Academy - IAQA Indoor Environmentalist - Intermediate Level

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Why Should You Take This Indoor Environmentalist - Intermediate Level Course?

The Indoor Environmentalist - Intermediate Level Course is the next step for those taking the Indoor Environmentalist - Fundamentals level or can serve as a stand alone offering for those with several years of experience providing IEQ consulting services. During the intermediate level training, the primary focus will be on commercial buildings. Familiarity with The Essentials of Healthy Housing and the "7 principles" of healthy housing is helpful but not required. Intermediate attendees get a copy of the Fundamentals level course manual to ensure they have all the background materials used at that level. This course can be taken immediately following the Fundamentals Level training or any time afterwards. The course helps build on the foundation IEQ consultants have or those that have already taken the IEQ -Fundamentals Level have gained.

This course also serves as a study review for the American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC) Certified Indoor Environmentalist (CIE) or Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC) certifications.

This course goes into a much more detail about the "how to" of IEQ consulting. Our focus is on taking the next step after learning the foundational principles of IEQ consulting. The scientific method is the foundation and we build on that with a review of the most important guidance documents for providing IEQ consulting services. EPA, OSHA and ASTM documents are used to help attendees develop their own method for characterizing problems, checking potential causes, performing basic measurement techniques (simple diagnostics), collecting additional information (complex diagnostics) and reporting the results of your investigation.

We use the ASTM Standard D7297-06 (free copy given to all attendees), the EPA I-BEAM program and the OSHA document Indoor Air Quality in Commercial and Institutional Buildings as our guidelines while performing a mock assessment of a commercial facility. Attendees will also learn about and perform hands on activities with equipment and sampling devices used to perform simple and complex diagnostics including microbial sampling techniques and equipment. Finally we focus on residential and commercial building science and HVAC assessment.

Please Note:  Each attendee receives a 700+ page course manual and a copy of the ASTM D7297 standard. The course manual includes the most comprehensive listing of references and documents available.
