In this Fashion ePortfolio: How to Create a Digital Portfolio course, students will learn the basics of InDesign to create an interactive, digital portfolio of their work. This course is tailored to design industry students and will teach them how to create attractive and professional portfolios.
This course is very hands-on and students are advised to bring at least ten digital files of their work, their resume and a logo or artwork that represents them to class in order to maximize their classroom experience.
Topics to be Covered:
- InDesign tools, palettes, workspace
- Creating master pages
- Creating basic hyperlinks
- Creating hidden fields and popup windows
- Creating an interactive PDF document
- Other options for digital portfolios
Course Overview:
This class will show you simple methods to create an interactive, digital fashion portfolio. Class will give a basic overview of InDesign and show you how to use it to create an interactive, digital document with simple navigation, popups, and rollover buttons. Each student will create an interactive, digital “teaser” portfolio pdf document that can be sent to potential employers. This document will serve as the template for your full digital portfolio, which you will show in your actual interview.
Course Requirements:
Students must have a basic working knowledge of Illustrator and/or Photoshop. Files will be provided for class exercises; however, students should bring their own files to work with, if possible. Please bring all of the following:
- At least 10 digital files of your work. Files should be no larger than 2MB, and should be accessible via cloud storage (Dropbox, iCloud, GoogleDocs, etc.) AND USB.
- Your resume
- A short bio or artist statement
- A logo or artwork that represents you as an artist
