Corporate Training By Zack Academy - Portfolio, Programme, and Project Offices (P3O)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

ABOUT P3O
Portfolio, Programme, and Project Offices (P3O) is a best practice guidance that includes principles, process, and techniques to enable individuals and organizations successfully establish, develop, and maintain appropriate structure for providing a decision-enabling and/or delivery-support model for all business change within an organization.

P3O is a widely accepted practice in both private and public sector organisations in some form or the other, intended to support the delivery of change, more commonly known as PMOs. This is one key area of business that has been a challenge that not many organisations have been able to deal with well.

Organisations that are able to maintain adequate visibility, insight, and control on the change portfolio, are able to effectively manage transformation, and are more likely to derive the expected business benefits.

Workshop Overview
Portfolio, Programme, and Project Offices (P3O) Foundation and Practitioner Exam course is a four-and-a-half-day program that covers the P3O Manual in-length and equips the candidates to understand the guidance to pass the APMG exams, and be able to practice the guidance at workplace.

The P3O Guidance covers the following:

  • Why have a P3O? – discusses the importance of a P3O and the business value it delivers to an organisation, how to develop a business case and blueprint for a P3O, and getting the right amount and level of sponsorship for the structure
  • What is P3O? – definition of a P3O, and its function in a business' operating environment, various models of P3O structure, and factors influencing the tailoring for the 'best-fit' design
  • Services of a P3O – discusses the various functions performed, and services offered by a P3O for the purpose of Portfolio support, Delivery support, or CoE function
  • How to set-up a P3O – implementation lifecycle of a P3O that covers the stages from Definition to Closure and Post-Implementation review whether for a setting-up of an entirely new P3O or to re-energize an existing one
  • How to Operate a P3O – covers various roles and responsibilities within a P3O function, and its organisation. P3O costs versus value benefits, its monitoring and measurement, and critical success factors
  • P3O Tools & Techniques – list of various P3O tools and techniques that can be used through different lifecycle stages of a P3O structure, depending on its model and business areas it interacts or aligns with

On completion of the course, and having gained an overall understanding of the relevant sections of the P3O guide, the candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to add value to the maturity of a P3O model for better Governance, Transparency, Delivery Support, Reusability, and Traceability.
