This 8-hour SST Renewal/OSHA Refresher course meets that renewal requirement by providing 2-hour Toolbox Talks, 4-hour Fall Prevention and 2-hour Pre-Task Meetings. All SST card holders are required to finish eight hours of training in order to renew their SST card prior to the card's five-year expiration date. This refresher is separate from OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training, though OSHA training is required to obtain the initial SST card.
To obtain a new SST card after the card's expiration date, you must attend a 10-SST class and have an OSHA 30 card that is less than 5 years old. Workers who have an OSHA 30 card that is older than five years can "refresh" their card in NYC by attending this eight-hour course, which will allow their OSHA card to be used toward a new SST card. This course counts toward 8 of the 48 hours of training needed to obtain an SST card with an OSHA card older than 5 years; however, it does not grant the student the right to obtain a new OSHA card.
