Hoarding Cleanup & Mass Contents Manipulation Class Courses

This Hoarding Cleanup & Mass Contents Manipulation Class course is a one-day technical course designed to provide cleaning and restoration professionals with the skills needed to safely and effectively manage Mass Contents Manipulation and structural cleanup in hoarded environments. The course emphasizes the importance of following industry standards, OSHA safety practices, and tried-and-true decontamination methods. This course only covers the operational, safety, and technical aspects of cleanup, unlike training that is based on psychology. Upon completing this course, students will earn 7 IICRC Continuing Education Credits.

This course offers focused, practical instruction, real-world case studies, and hands-on experience with hoarding rehabilitation initiatives. Students will learn how to conduct danger assessments, choose suitable personal protective equipment (PPE), manage site logistics, and handle structures and materials all while maintaining clear communication with customers and correct documentation.

Topics Covered Include: 

Preparing for safe entry and exit, containment, and site setup; planning for client correspondence, contracts, and liability documentation; identifying the levels, types, and conditions present in hoarded properties; evaluating the hazards; implementing OSHA-compliant exposure controls and personal protective equipment protocols; manipulating mass contents, tools, equipment, and engineering controls; using chemicals and antimicrobials for contents and structure; post-remediation assessments; odor control; and cleaning the structure.
