IMPORTANT! In order to attend this course as a virtual class, participants must have the following in place:
1. Access to a Phase Contrast Microscope with the proper setup for asbestos fiber analysis as specified in the Method NIOSH 7400 or similar, and
2. Someone that is fully trained and a qualified person must be onsite with you. They will be required to follow up with additional oversight after the slides are analyzed by the student and monitored online by Ecologics personnel.
This 5-day PLM Asbestos Identification by Optical Microscopic Analysis course teaches students how to identify asbestos fibers, their substitutes, and lookalikes through a review of microscopic analysis. This course covers refractive index measurements, staining methods, gravimetric methods, and more.
Students will have the opportunity to analyze complex samples to demonstrate their proficiency. By the end of this course, students will have the skills necessary to identify asbestos through microscopic analysis.
