Why Should You Take This Asbestos Building Inspector/Management Planner Initial Training Course?
Training for asbestos abatement professionals is required under the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act of 1986 (AHERA), which is the authority under which EPA issued the EPA Asbestos Model Accreditation Plan. This course has been granted full approval by the EPA and various States to meet AHERA and ASHARA accreditation requirements for asbestos work in K-12 schools, as well as in public and commercial buildings.
This Asbestos Inspector/Management Planner Initial training course certifies individuals to survey, identify and assess the condition of asbestos and asbestos containing material to record and report the results for an asbestos project. With taking this combination course, individuals will also be able to develop the written program for managing asbestos containing materials identified during the asbestos building inspection. Changes to regulations, interpretations and a review of state-of-the-art work practices are covered.
The Asbestos Inspector determines the location and presence of asbestos-containing materials and also assesses the condition of the material. Only an AHERA accredited inspector can sample and inspect material for asbestos. This course provides an overview of asbestos containing materials in buildings and the methods to find, categorize, and assess their condition and potential for disturbance. This course meets all AHERA training requirements.
The Following Topics Will Be Covered (Asbestos Inspector):
*The last day of the Asbestos Inspector course includes hands-on training using established inspection methodologies. Organization of findings is conducted so the student is exposed to the real world asbestos building inspection protocol*
The second session continues the natural sequence of events in the Management Planner course. This two-day follow-up is required for all persons who write management plans for schools. The student becomes familiar with Management Plans and Operations & Maintenance Programs. Regulations are covered in detail, as well as EPA hazard assessment protocols, appropriate selection of response actions including removal, encapsulation, repair and enclosure, and development/implementation of Operations and Maintenance Programs. Students will use this knowledge to develop and use a management plan and O & M program in the class.
The Following Topics Will Be Covered (Asbestos Management Planner):
Please Note: Your state has detailed education, experience and application processing requirements to qualify for licensing in the Asbestos field. Most states administer their own asbestos programs, and each state's Department of Environmental Protection/Health is generally the best place to start with questions about requirements and training. Students are responsible to verify these requirements prior to registering for a course.
