This Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor Initial training course is for any individual who performs supervision of persons permitted to enter the restricted and regulated asbestos abatement work area. The supervisor is also responsible for performing the duties of the OSHA competent person for the asbestos project, consistent with current EPA and OSHA regulations.
An Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor must have completed this training, and have a valid certificate with them at all times while working on qualifying projects. This workshop prepares you to immediately apply your knowledge to the field, with extensive hands-on training and real-world examples from experienced instructors. It combines lectures, discussions, and hands-on demonstrations. Safe work practices, liability, and glove bag procedures are examined in detail.
Training for asbestos abatement professionals is required under the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act of 1986 (AHERA), which is the authority under which EPA issued the EPA Asbestos Model Accreditation Plan. This course has been granted full approval by the EPA and various States to meet AHERA and ASHARA accreditation requirements for asbestos work in K-12 schools, as well as in public and commercial buildings.

This was a very good course. Informative with all of the EPA and OSHA regs discussed. An in depth look at state of the art procedures and recommendations. The instructors were very informative and able to answer every question. It was very obvious they had many years of experience in the field and as class instructors. The hands on part of the class was also a fun experience with the other students. The facilities were very neat, clean and orderly. They also provided coffee and snacks for everyone. I was told that the certificate was recognized by 35 states and that in itself is very impressive. I highly recommend. Anthony W B.

As in depth as an abatement program can be, Sergio simplified the material by showing examples from experience. The instructor took the time to work hand in hand with the students was involved in in teaching thoroughly through his personal experience and from material showed by the Video instruction that was unclear.
Overall it was a great experience to learn new material but how to manage and handle abatement going forward thanks to the instructors. Looking forward to adding other team members to the class in the future. Brandon H.

As an employee for demolition and abatement, the course provided by the Zack Academy was exactly what I needed to keep moving forward in this industry. Although the class was very informative, the only issue I had with this course was that it was from the early 90s. There are a lot of procedures and practices that have changed that aren't covered in the video, and makes it challenging at times. Overall, I give this course a 4/5 Paul R.

The course was very informative and thoroughly covered the health and welfare of dangers associated with working in an environment that contained Asbestos. From methods of abatement, the tools and equipment required for safety as well as safely disposing abated materials; to laws put in place to protect workers and the general public from the hazards of asbestos; the 40 hour course covered this and so much more. If wondering how the class could be better in the future, it would help to clarify in the book what pieces are regulatory requirements (and which regulation requires them) and what are not regulatory requirements, although good practices. I learned a good deal. Our instructor happily and willingly answered any questions we had. I couldn't really ask for anything more. May be time to update that video, though. Nothing against it being dated-I rather enjoyed that-but I'm sure some things have changed in regards to policy since its conception. Books were supplied with most up-to-date information anyway, but I'm not sure everyone read them. In particular, the definitions of Friable, Cat 1 and 2 seem to be conflict with what I've learned since in the industry. Maybe I just misunderstood, though. Angela H.
