This 16-Hour Scaffolding Competent Person course is an OSHA safety awareness course that will review the state and federal standards for scaffold users and scaffold erectors. The course will cover types of scaffolds, the basics of installing a scaffold system and how to prevent hazardous situations. This course complies with OSHA standard 29 CFR 1926.454(a) for scaffold training requirements.
This course focuses on the responsibilities of a Competent Person, a member of the project who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the work area and has the authorization to take corrective measures to eliminate them.
In this hands-on course, students can expect to work as a team to plan, assemble and inspect a scaffolding system. Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a certificate of completion.

Scaffold: Any temporary elevated platform (supported or suspended) and its supporting structure (including points of anchorage) used for supporting employees and/or materials.
Qualified Person: One who, by possession of a recognized degree, certificate, or professional standing or who by extensive knowledge, training and experience, has successfully demonstrated his/her ability to solve or resolve problems related to the subject matter, the work, or the project.
Competent Person: One who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or work condition which are unsanitary, hazardous or dangerous to employees, and who has authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them.
