Please Note: Students MUST provide a copy of a valid initial training certificate or card that is not expired to participate in this refresher class and to receive the RRP training renewal certificate. Please contact your original training provider if you need to receive a copy of your training certificate. If your certificate has expired, or you have not attended the 8 hour initial course yet, please view the Lead Renovator Initial schedule.

This in-person Lead Renovator Refresher course will renew your certification for 5 years in most states! The EPA-Authorized states of Alabama, Georgia, Iowa, and Mississippi require RRP refresher training every 3 years. Wisconsin requires RRP refresher training every 4 years. If you originally attended a course with the EPA but work in one of these states, you must now adhere to the state renewal periods outlined above.
For individuals who have previously completed the Lead Renovator Initial Certification in compliance with the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) rule, this 4-hour Refresher Course is required to renew your individual certification. RRP recertification is required every five years in states under EPA jurisdiction. Our courses are delivered by experienced instructors, and will provide you with all the current information you need to successfully and safely perform RRP work in the field. This course is approved for purposes of certification under Section 402 of TSCA

More about the Lead Renovator, Repair, and Painting Rule:
Effective April 22, 2010, anyone who performs renovations, repairs, or painting in pre-1978 housing or child-occupied facilities must be Lead Safe Certified with the EPA or EPA-authorized lead program. Individuals and firms that are not certified could face fines of up to $41,056 per day.
The RRP law applies if your project disturbs:
- More than 6 square feet of interior painted surface AND/OR
- More than 20 square feet of exterior painted surface
Companies performing this type of work must be registered as a Lead Safe Firm with the EPA ($300 fee) or an EPA-authorized state (fees vary), and at least one person on the actual job site must be a Certified Renovator, which is achieved by taking the 8-hour Lead Renovator Initial Certification Course. Renewal of this training course is required every 5 years by the EPA. Individuals certified in an EPA-authorized state may be required to renew earlier than every 5 years, so check with your state Lead Based Paint regulation program for details.

Overall the data in the training course was totally adequate - BUT
1. The location - in what appeared to be a derelict building in poor condition was hardly a professional environment.
2. The videos used were poorly edited, so that as factual details had been changed the audio was clipped so that the content was not always clear. To attend a course in 2016 which contained statements like "after 2010 the effect will be..." seems to be inappropriate. For a course costing $300 I would have thought that the audio track could have been professionally edited - and the video - dated 2008 - could have been professionally brought up to date. Mike B.

Jim Stump did an excellent job! He was extremely knowledgeable and thorough. I was particularly struck by the first section of the video that included a history of the lead poisoning of the U.S. That went a long way in really driving home the urgency of our situation. When I first took an RRP course taught by the EPA in 2010, they never went into detail about any of that. Thanks for caring enough to give us an exceptional course! Michael R.

The information was explained well in the video but there was no real instructor to supervise. The gentleman who virtually taught the hands on portion of the training did a good job. It was a computer video class, there was a 15 minutes hand taught part demonstration with an assistant. I did not get to do any hands on.

Presentation would have rated 5 except for some problems with Comcast. The history of lead in the environment and how it works its way into cellular development was very interesting and informative. I attended a 4hour refresher class last week with instructor, Barbara Turk.
I recommend her for a higher position and raise. She was professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful. she also made the hands on portion easy to understand, and participate in. She was fully prepared, and helped me complete it all in a timely manner.

Instructor was late arriving. Had to listen to an hour and a half of irrelevant information such as lead in gas and the history of automobiles and other countries. Watched a video and then took a test that did not coincide with what was on the video. Cost of class is more expensive than other classes in Florida. Cost the same for a refresher class as an initial class. No one else in the state that I saw charges like that. I paid for two employees to take the initial class and and there was nearly no hands on instruction to make sure they knew how to properly set up and complete the clean up. Initial impression was that you wanted us to understand the importance of this certification but final impression is profits from certification by instructor is priority. I was not impressed with this company and would recommend perry and American management resources over seagull. Charles D.

Not a good learning environment. Don't need to place people in a room to watch a screen of text. The only live person was not very helpful. Supplies were not restocked from prior sessions. The RRP Project Binder & Tutorial is an optional record-keeping tool that is perfect for
compiling and retaining all required documents to be in compliance with the EPA Renovation
Repair and Painting Rule (40 CFR Part 745). The Binder is the essential tool for
step-by-step instructions on "how to" complete forms and letters that are included in the
Renovation Repair and Painting Rule Project Binder. It is recommended that each renovation
project retain a Project Binder & Tutorial on-site for the duration of the project. The
Project Binder is to be retained after the completion of the project for a period of three
years, accessible by the EPA for possible spontaneous audit.
For those working in EPA-authorized states including AL, DE, GA, IA, KS, MA, MS, NC, OK, OR, RI, UT, WA or WI there may be additional or alternate record-keeping requirements from what is presented in the RRP Project Binder.
