Why Should You Take This IICRC-approved Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) course?

This IICRC-approved Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) course is designed to teach restoration personnel that perform remediation work to give them a better concept of water damage, its effects and techniques for drying of structures. This course will give residential and commercial maintenance personnel the background to understand the procedures necessary to deal with water losses, sewer backflows, and contamination such as mold.

When coupled with additional on-the-job training and field experience, students should be adequately prepared to perform and document typical residential or light commercial water-damage restoration projects from start to finish. They also should be adequately prepared to accomplish further training in other IICRC-approved courses such as ASD (Applied Structural Drying), and AMRT (Applied Microbial Remediation Technician), which require WRT (Water Damage Restoration Technician) as a prerequisite.

Topics to be Covered Include:

  • General Discussion covers Principles of Drying, Categories and Classes.
  • Equipment, Supplies, Chemicals
  • Microorganisms, Health and Safety
  • Drying Science
  • Effect of Water on Materials
  • Inspections
  • Procedures: Sanitary Water Source
  • Procedures: Unsanitary Water

Intended Audience:  Restoration & remediation companies, contractors, universities, large organizations, facility managers, water damage technicians, carpet cleaning companies, BOMA members, home & building inspectors, and anyone that deals with water damage.

IICRC Exam Fees:  $80.00 for each exam. Retests are $80.00 per exam. These fees are in addition to the registration fee and are paid directly to the IICRC online prior to course start date. Please use this link to register for the exam: https://iicrc.org/livestreamexamregistration

The WRT Certification Exam is comprised of 110 questions, multiple choice.

Continuing Education:  The IICRC continuing education program seeks to encourage registrants to actively participate in their industry through conventions, workshops and specialized training with continuing education and by sharing knowledge with others in the industry. IICRC-certified cleaning and restoration technicians face many changes in their field and require 14.0 CE credit hours every four years.

Please Note:  Failure to meet continuing education credit requirements will result in suspension of that particular status until the requirement is met and all current course requirements are met.

I would of loved to be in class for the course but David did make the online course a fun and easy learning experience. So much so, that I am looking into doing more courses online. I learned a lot in a short amount of time and feel I benefited from David’s teaching.

I learned a lot and really appreciate the instructors first hand experience. I've taken quite a few cert classes that I couldn't stop thinking "this is like a football coach that never played football". I think if I could nit pick because i know that is ultimately what you are after, I would have liked to have gone through maybe some critical thinking where the instructor provides a scenario and we try to come up with the proper solution. I realize that's probably done in another cert class I will end up taking. I just think it can be helpful to not just be given the solution during the examples given but to try and think through situations for myself to see if I'm on the right track. I gave 5 stars because I can't complain about anything and thoroughly appreciated the class. I'll keep the instructor at the forefront of any other classes I might have to take. Also, the provided lunches were great for someone out of town and not wanting to go figure it out myself.

I felt the course was accurate and adequately portrayed the subject matter. David added to the course with his wide range of knowledge and experience including running a restoration business, being an EMT and a firefighter. I felt the course was well balanced and did not favor the contractor nor the insurance carrier. I recommend everyone to attend this course and hope to attend another by the same instructor in the future.

David brought a wealth of experience from his hands on business in this industry to include many examples of how to conduct your business and to be paying attention to detail/documentation of items daily. His presentation included a not so boring approach of simply reading from the book, rather including humor along with highlighting the important items to be studied with real life examples.
