A PDF manual will be emailed the week prior to class, along with a link to the IICRC Candidate Agreement/Exam RegistrationForm This form must be filled out PRIOR to the class start date.
Students will receive ZOOM meeting information 1-2 days before class. Additional IICRC Exam information will be given by the instructor at the end of class. Computer microphone and camera are required to take both the course and proctored exam. One student per registration fee.
This IICRC Odor Control Technician (OCT) course covers olfaction and odor, odor sources, detection process, theory of odor control, equipment, chemical options and applications. The student will learn how to address odors caused from biological sources such as decomposition, urine contamination, and mold, combustion sources such as fire and smoke damage, and chemical sources such as fuel oil spills or volatile organic chemicals.
Topics to be Covered Include:
- Odor sources, detection process, and theory of odor control
- Chemical options and applications
- Sanitize, disinfect, enzyme, and sealants
- Vapor diffusion technology
- Antimocrobials, 'pairing agents', and deodorizers and how to use them

- Decomposition
- Urine Contamination
- Mold
Combustion Sources:
- Fuel Oil Spills
- Volatile Organic Chemicals
Chemical Sources:
- Efficient Wand Strokes
- Labor Saving Tricks
- Grooming
IICRC Exam Fees: $80.00 for each exam. Retests are $80.00 per exam. These fees are in addition to the registration fee and are paid directly to the IICRC online prior to course start date. Please use this link to register for the exam: https://iicrc.org/livestreamexamregistration
Continuing Education: The IICRC continuing education program seeks to encourage registrants to actively participate in their industry through conventions, workshops and specialized training with continuing education and by sharing knowledge with others in the industry. IICRC-certified cleaning and restoration technicians face many changes in their field and require 14.0 CE credit hours every four years.
Please Note: Failure to meet continuing education credit requirements will result in suspension of that particular status until the requirement is met and all current course requirements are met.

The CRA, Cleaning and Restoration Association, was created in the Spring of 2005 to fill the need for a trade association in the Western United States. Today it is one of the two largest trade associations of its kind in the U.S. The CRA is a nonprofit organization of Cleaning and Restoration firms from the Western United States. The association's goal is to create venues for advancing the knowledge and professionalism of the cleaning and restoration industry.
