Why Should You Take This Asbestos Management Planner Refresher Course?

Do not let your Asbestos Management Planner license expire! This Asbestos Management Planner refresher course provides a review of subjects covered in the Management Planner initial course. The Asbestos Management Planner refresher course recertifies individuals to assess hazards posed by asbestos, recommend appropriate response actions, and develop a schedule for such response actions.

This training is for those responsible for facility mitigation activities, including management of data associated with asbestos work, response action planning, scheduling and administration. The Management Planner also coordinates any activities of an asbestos operations and maintenance program.

During this course, students will receive a regulatory review and update on new asbestos legislation pertinent to asbestos abatement work. Beneficial features of this course include real-world examples from experienced instructors, as well as an overview of OSHA, AHERA, NESHAP; acceptable work practices; workplace safety; and air monitoring techniques. You will have the opportunity to interact with your peers and course instructors for maximized learning.

The Following Topics Will Be Reviewed:

  • Role of The Management Planner
  • Evaluation and Interpretation of Survey Results
  • Hazard Assessments
  • Federal and State Regulatory Overview
  • Selection of Response Actions
  • Other Planning Considerations
  • Multi-Disciplinary Team Approach
  • Operations & Maintenance Programs
  • Development of Operations & Maintenance Plan
  • O & M Case Study
  • Applicable EPA Guidance Documents
  • Recordkeeping Procedures
  • Assembling and Submitting a Management Plan
  • Cost Estimation for Asbestos Abatement Projects

Please Note: Your state has detailed education, experience and application processing requirements to qualify for licensing in the Asbestos field. Most states administer their own asbestos programs, and each state's Department of Environmental Protection/Health is generally the best place to start with questions about requirements and training. Students are responsible to verify these requirements prior to registering for a course.

IMPORTANT: You are required to bring your most current training certificate with you to the refresher course!

ABOUT THE TRAINING PROVIDER

FACS Training (formerly HMS, a division of Forensic Analytical Consulting Services) has helped construction managers, building owners, facilities managers, architects, contractors and consultants handle hazardous materials safely AND legally (two different issues) since 1984. Our instructors are active consultants, contractors, or EH&S personnel, most with more than 25 years of hazardous materials experience Many have been actively involved in developing the original curriculum for UC Berkeley’s highly respected asbestos and lead training program in the late 1980s, and in revising and generating local, state, and federal environmental regulations during the past four decades. Our classes use interactive teaching techniques and emphasize applying up-to-date knowledge and research (about health effects, regulatory and legal trends, and best industrial practices) to actual situations our students face. In every class, genuine case studies and discussion of participants’ on-the-job experiences help you develop practical responses to real-world problems and avoid costly mistakes.
